Now that school is in full swing, the recycling bins are back in the cafeteria! First through fifth grade students have already started recycling items from their lunches, and kindergarteners will join soon after they participate in a recycling presentation. Parents are encouraged to help teach students what can and can’t be recycled by volunteering for Lunch Buddies. The signup to volunteer in October is here. It’s always available on our Lunch Buddies page!
Please talk to your children about the following important reminders:
- Common recyclable items include: milk cartons, juice boxes, aluminum cans, rigid plastic food containers, and plastic water bottles.
- Common lunch items that go in the trash include: food waste, styrofoam trays, plastic bags, film plastic, chips bags, soiled napkins, plastic utensils, and straws.
- Before clean-up time, students should take out the straws from their drinks and remove all lids from plastic food containers.
- All liquids and food should be dumped into the trash before recycling.
Every bit we keep out of the landfill helps! Thank you!
